The Westford Parent Connection is celebrating its fourteenth anniversary during the 2014–2015 school year. The WPC was formed in 2001 to provide Westford parents and guardians enrichment and educational events to help address a variety of social and emotional issues pertaining to their children's development. The WPC works collaboratively with groups throughout the community, to ensure we address the right topics at the right time. We are grateful for the support from the Westford Public Schools, the Westford Health Department, the Roudenbush Community Center, the Westford Elementary PTO, and the Westford Middle School PTO. To learn more about the organization, contact WPC President Mary Anne Seraphin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our children are bombarded on a daily basis with unrealistic images of the human body. Hyper-sexualized, airbrushed, Photoshopped print ads, commercials, literature, television shows, and movies give our kids inappropriate ideas about how they should look and act. It may feel like a losing battle, but there is hope.
Laura Goodman shares concrete advice and strategies to help our children feel good about themselves. Her many years of working with adolescents – particularly in the area of eating disorders – give her invaluable expertise. Her presentation will help parents help their kids feel comfortable in their own skin.
