Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 27 (rain or shine) from 7:30am – 10:30 am for the Annual Children Fishing Derby 2013 sponsored by the Westford Sportsman’s Club members. The Fishing derby is FREE and open to children 14 and under. Registration starts at 7:30 am at the shed at the edge of the pond. The Derby runs from 8:00 am to 10:30 am. The fishing derby happens at the 2 acre fishing pond the the Club’s property. Children MUST bring their own fishing gear, bait & lures. Each year the pond is stocked with 1000 trout up to 20 “. Free drinks and snacks are provided for the children and adults during the morning.
Prizes are awarded for boys and girls who catch the largest fish; the first fish caught; and the first tagged fish caught. Aside from the fun of fishing… one of the highlights of the morning is the drawings for fishing gear, backpacks and other accessories donated or purchased from funds raised. Each child who attends will go home with a new fishing lure.
Westford Sportsman’s Club is a 66 year old non-profit organization situated on over 200 acres of land along West St. and boasts over 600 members.

Westford Education Foundation – Annual Big Event Gala – April 6th

The Westford Education Foundation cordially invites you to the eighth-annual Big Event Benefit Gala. Join us Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. for a semi-formal reception with an abundance of gourmet passed appetizers, mouth-watering international food stations, and delectable sweets. Come mingle and dance, bid on some auction items, bring your friends and make new ones, all while raising money for innovative educational programs in Westford.
The Big Event Benefit Gala will again be held in the beautiful Pavilion Ballroom, Saints Vartanantz Church, 180 Old Westford Road, Chelmsford (a short two-mile drive from Westford Center). Live entertainment will be provided by First Class Band, featuring Concetta. Dust off your dancing shoes and check out the bandís website: http://firstclassband.com/.
Tickets for the Big Event Benefit Gala are $100 each, and are limited. Only 250 will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. (No reserved tables required.) As in the past, the Westford Education Foundation is holding the Big Event Raffle in conjunction with the reception. The grand prize is $2,000 cash, and the second-place prize is $500 cash. Raffle tickets are $25 each, and winners need not be present that evening to win. Only 500 raffle tickets will be sold. In addition, a number of fun luxury items will be auctioned off that night.
Proceeds from the eighth-annual Big Event Benefit Gala will be used to fund educational programs for the Westford Public School system and Nashoba Valley Technical High School. WEF has awarded more than $150,000 in grants to the Westford community since 2003.

The Westford Middle School PTO would like to invite families in Westford and surrounding towns to a special performance with AudioBody : ‘Super-charged’ on Thursday, February 28, 2013 beginning at 7:00 p.m, at the Blanchard Middle School, Katie Enos Performing Arts Center.
AudioBody is a fusion of hilarious physical comedy, and mind-blowing technology, all held together with fun upbeat music that will have audiences of all ages asking for more! The Tardy brothers have been dubbed “A modern-day Smothers Brothers meets Blue Man Group.” Sibling rivalry, technological mishaps and outrageous happenings collide on stage to create a show full of comedy, stunts, contortions, up-beat music, and an LED Light Show! Advance sale e-tickets are $12 pp or Family Maximum $40. Keep in mind the family maximum is meant for one family with 2 adults and their dependent children. All children 7 years and older must have a ticket. A limited # of tickets will be available at the door for $15 pp.
This performance is open to the public and appropriate for families with children in grades 2-12. We expect a sell-out show, so don’t wait to order your tickets! Proceeds to benefit the Westford Middle School PTO.
